Welcome to the LENG2723 course!
The course aims to help you become familiar with
- key concepts in sociolinguistics
- understand scientific articles in the field and
- adopt a critical approach to sociolinguistics.
The course focuses primarily
on social factors such as social class, ethnic origin, age and gender and their
impact on language (e.g. accent, vocabulary, language interactions) as well as on
research methods and the types of data used in the field (including corpus
linguistics).
