This course will provide students with a detailed understanding of the process of European integration, with a particular emphasis on the underlying economic challenges and policies. We will focus on the key aspects which have recently put the European Union at the centre of media and economic attention (e.g. the euro crisis, the transatlantic trade treaty, etc.). It is an excellent opportunity to use a wide array of theories from other courses (international economics, labour economics, macro and microeconomics or regional economics) to shed light on practical issues in the context of the European economy.
