This course aims at familiarizing students with classical theorie and recent advances in international trade. Both theoretical and empirical issues will be addressed. After having presented the main models in international trade from Ricardo to Melitz, the course will be built around several topics: trade and productivity, trade and quality, gravity, trade and labor market etc.

To validate the course, students will have to pass an oral exam. The exam will consist in a presentation of one research paper, picked randomly in a list of 4 or 5 papers the students will receive a few weeks before the exam, and in a series of questions on the paper and more generally on the topic it is related to.
