The course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to approach existing buildings from a material design perspective.  Interventions in existing buildings and structures are addressed in a way that will allow students to understand the historical, cultural, material, and construction features that they discover, including environmental impact and circularity issues. Achieving this outcome involves considering the full range of approaches that are possible from conservation and restoration, to renovation, retrofitting, and re-purposing.

On this page the course material will be gradually added as the course progresses through the start of 2026.
